Allama Iqbal sculpture triggered a hue and cry on social media. The city’s Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) declared on Tuesday that it would be taken down. And it will be reinstalled after changes are made to it.
Nadia Tufail, the spokeswoman for the park in the Gulshan-e-Iqbal section of the city, spoke to the news. He announced that the sculpture is being dismantled and, after appropriate changes, will be set up again.
An individual shared an image on Twitter, showing a group of employees rooting out the boundary fencing around the sculpture.
“After going viral on social media, Iqbal’s structure is being uprooted,” he said.
PHA Chairman Yasir Gillani had earlier explained that the gardeners of the park installed the statue out of their pure passion for Allama Iqbal.
Dear, this is prepared by Maalis on their own. They made it from their heart with pure love for Iqbal and to pay homage. Authority did not approve of it or even paid a single penny for it.
“WE WILL ADDRESS IT but can anyone see from maalis eye’s, their love and their عقیدت,” he wrote.
Yasir said that since the gardeners had constructed the system out of their own pocket money. So, no action against them would be taken. However, the specific guidelines had been given to ensure that no sculpture is installed within the park without approval from the park management.
After changes are made to the sculpture, Allama Iqbal will be reinstalled in the garden and says the park’s management.
