Email :2

The Pakistani cricketer’s fame has touched even Port Arthur’s town in Texas, where ‘Shahid Afridi Day‘ is celebrated on February 5.

Shahid Afridi is known affectionately as Boom Boom. He is not only one of the most famous cricketers in Pakistan but also in the world of cricketing.

Moreover, he was a fan favorite everywhere. He played during his 21-year-long international career, known for his fearless hitting and ability to hit sixes at will.

But the success of Afridi is not limited solely to conventional nations that play cricket. Even in the United States of America, where cricket is not that common, Port Arthur, Texas, celebrates February 5 as Shahid Afridi Day.

Touched by this gesture, on Wednesday, Afridi went to his official Instagram account to thank the mayor of Port Arthur for the honor given to him back in 2014.

For some Pakistani cricket team fans, who took to social media to share their satisfaction with recognizing their favorite cricketer, the presence of ‘Shahid Afridi Day’ was a discovery.

We celebrate one whole day with your name Shahid Afridi you are legend and we proud on you ❤️

At the young age of 16, Afridi first shot to the spotlight. And that was when he bombed formerly the hundred in ODIs against Sri Lanka off just 37 deliveries.

He was an essential part of Pakistan’s limited-over cricket team for the next two centuries. And he was also responsible for winning the T20 World Championship in 2009.
