According to vessel-tracking data, the Evergreen Marine Corp. container ship that had been mired in Chesapeake Bay muck for more than a month is moving again.
According to mapping data obtained by Bloomberg, the ship’s navigational status was changed to “under way using engine” on Sunday after it became stranded just outside the bay’s main shipping channel after left the Port of Baltimore on March 13. Officials recently offloaded some cargo to decrease the burden after several attempts to liberate the Ever Forward with tugs failed.
Chesapeake Bay Ship blockades are another physical stumbling block in the global supply chain that has contributed to the United States‘ inflation reaching a 41-year high. Last year, another Evergreen vessel became stuck in a small section of the Suez Canal, causing delays.
