U.S. announces a $1 million dollar program for Pakistan to combat coronavirus
The United States is helping Pakistan fight against the novel coronavirus with a conditional investment of one million dollars. U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, Alice Wells, said Friday that the United States will send one million dollars to Pakistan under the USAID program to improve surveillance and quick reaction to Coronavirus.
Pakistan is struggling with the outbreak of a pandemic of pneumonia with over 440 reported infections across the region. She said that both the U.S. and Pakistan have long been allies in tackling public health issues. This also informed that over a hundred Pakistani students are engaged in research at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, examining reports of Coronavirus in Punjab and Gilgit Baltistan.
