When Pakistan marked its 55th Defense Day with national zeal and fervor to pay tribute to the martyrs who made supreme sacrifices in defense of the motherland. On 6 September 1965, the heroic armed forces of Pakistan and the whole nation stood together against the enemy who threatened the territorial integrity of Pakistan.
In Islamabad at midnight dazzling fireworks were unveiled spreading a vibrant rainbow in the skies of the capital city and national anthems were played to celebrate the day. At Day, special prayers for the growth and stability of Pakistan and the Pakistan Army were offered after Fajr in mosques across the region.
In addition, countrywide special activities are being planned. A ceremony of the Defense Day was held at Islamabad Naval Headquarters where Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi, the chief of the Naval Staff, laid floral wreaths at Yadgar-e-Shuhada and recited Fateha.
Special ceremonies were also conducted at the national heroes’ mausoleum, including Pakistan ‘s founder Quaid-e – Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Muhammad Iqbal and the General Headquarters (GHQ).
