Kevin Gates has a wife, but who is she?
After he was spotted with Love & HipHop: Miami’s Jojo Zarur, rapper Kevin Gates and his wife Dreka prompted suspicions that they had split up.
Kevin and Dreka married in 2015 and will be celebrating their 18th anniversary in October 2021.
Kevin Gates has a wife, but who is she?
Kevin and Dreka Gates began dating in 2003 and married in 2015.
When Dreka appeared in cameos in Kevin’s music videos, she gained notoriety, and audiences were enamoured with their connection.
She eventually broke away and created her own social media channel, where she provided glimpses into her personal life.
Raheem, a man she knew who managed her digital integration, was the one who suggested she create a social media profile.
“He established the account and was like, ‘Alright Dreka, you’re live,'” Dreka told The Source in 2016. ‘F*CK!’ I exclaim. I was terrified because I’d heard how harsh people were, and I was like, ‘I don’t want to be subjected to this nonsense,’ you know.”
“But it was astonishing to see how many people knew about me and were simply that interested in me,” she continued. ‘Wow, this is ridiculous!’ I said.
“My stuff was just playing in the background, but now it’s like, ‘No lady, you’re on front street,'” says the narrator.
Dreka is the co-founder of the Bread Winner’s Association, a musical label she started with Kevin in 2010.
They started the label when Kevin informed Dreka that he wanted to pursue a career in music.
Kevin “was always recording,” Dreka told the publication at the time, “but he was simply doing it in a room in his grandmother’s house.”
She completed her studies when he mentioned he wanted to pursue it as a career.
“Nobody is going to say, “Hey, come on, let me show you the ropes!” Nobody is going to offer, “Hey, come on, let me show you the ropes!” That’s simply not going to work.
We really forged our own route “she stated
Is the couple still together?
After a strange statement on social media in March 2022, rumours circulated that Kevin and Dreka had split up.
“At times, we miss our X’s but it’s in the past for a reason – do you recall the stench, the arguments, the energy being drained, not reaching your objectives, the money you could have earned, the money you f****d up, the time you should’ve put in yourself – f**k em. #CarryOn,” Kevin said in the post.
On June 4, fans got a bit more insight when Kevin tweeted a video message to a fan who inquired about Dreka’s whereabouts.
“Man, where’s Dreka? Where’s this peace and all that nonsense?” Stop fooling around with us. “You and her as a unit and model of Black Love inspire your true fans,” the admirer added.
“I guess I lost a fan for making myself happy,” Kevin stated in response.
Following the tweet, Kevin was spotted dining with Love and Hip Hop Miami star Jojo Zarur in a New York City restaurant on June 7.
Kevin and Zarur were spotted taking selfies for admirers, and a video showed them embracing as they moved away from the crowd.
On June 9, Kevin released his single, Super General, which looks to confirm their breakup.
“Took the blame in interviews and made it appear like I was trippin’/ Made the ‘Dreka’ song, lied to the world while trying to preserve her image,” Kevin raps in the music video, which features photographs of Zarur.
Are Kevin and Dreka Gates parents?
Kevin and Dreka have two children: a daughter named Islah Koren, who was born on November 30, 2012, and a son named Khaza Kamil, who was born on May 10, 2014.
Both of the couple’s children were born before they married, and they have kept their children’s lives out of the public since then.
Dreka gave birth to both of her children at home, which they attribute to their decision not to vaccinate them.
Kevin told Rolling Stone, “I don’t believe in conspiracy ideas,” and added, “I’m simply a cold-blooded investigator.”
“A lot of children who were born in a hospital suffered a lot of suffering that they didn’t have to endure,” Kevin stated, expressing his opinions.
Dreka claimed she agreed with Kevin’s choice not to vaccinate their children, but that having a waterbirth for their children originated from a near-death experience she had in the hospital.
“A few years ago, I had an event in the hospital when I nearly died while under the care of hospital physicians,” Dreka told The Source.
“That was my major driving force. Plus, I’m a big fan of all-natural products. Both of my children were born in a watery environment. Love is the most wonderful experience one may have in life. It was ecstatic in a way.
“You’ll be transported to another universe. You’ll adore it and think to yourself, ‘I can do this again!'”
