Junaid Safdar, son of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and grandson of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, is preparing for a second marriage later this year. According to family sources, his engagement has been finalized with the daughter of Usman Javed Shafi, making her the granddaughter of Javed Shafi, a cousin of Nawaz Sharif. The wedding ceremonies are expected to take place in November or December 2025.
This development follows Junaid’s previous marriage to Ayesha Saif, daughter of former senator Saifur Rehman. The couple married in August 2021 but amicably parted ways in October 2023. Junaid confirmed the divorce via Instagram, requesting privacy and expressing well wishes for his former spouse.
Currently residing in Lahore, Junaid has expressed no immediate interest in entering politics. He has stated that his move to Pakistan is to support his mother in her political endeavors and manage family affairs. With an impressive academic background, including degrees from Durham University, the London School of Economics, University College London, and the University of Cambridge, Junaid is also known for his passion for polo, having represented British universities in various competitions.
As the Sharif family prepares for this upcoming union, the event is anticipated to be a significant affair within Pakistan’s political and social circles.
