The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee of Pakistan has officially announced that the moon for Zil Hajj 1446 AH was not sighted on the evening of May 27, 2025. Consequently, the first day of Zil Hajj will be observed on Thursday, May 29, and Eid-ul-Adha will be celebrated across the country on Saturday, June 7.

Moon Sighting Details

The committee, led by Chairman Maulana Muhammad Abdul Khabir Azad, convened in Islamabad to assess moon sighting reports from various regions. Due to overcast conditions and the moon’s low visibility, no credible sightings were reported. This aligns with predictions from the Pakistan Space and Uppertival Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO), which had indicated that the moon’s age and position would make it difficult to observe on May 27.

Eid-ul-Adha Celebrations

Eid-ul-Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to God. Muslims around the world observe this festival by performing the ritual of animal sacrifice, distributing meat to the needy, and engaging in communal prayers and gatherings.

In contrast, countries like Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Oman reported the sighting of the Dhul Hijjah crescent on May 27. As a result, these nations will observe Eid-ul-Adha on Friday, June 6.

Public Holidays in Pakistan

The Pakistani government is expected to announce public holidays from June 7 to June 9, allowing citizens to partake in the religious festivities and spend time with family and friends.

As the nation prepares for this significant Islamic event, communities are encouraged to observe the festival’s traditions with devotion and to extend support to those in need.
