The federal government has proposed to allocate Rs 29.47 billion for the Higher Education Commission (HEC) in the Annual Development Budget (PSDP) for the financial year 2020-21. I have added Rs. 29 crores.
According to the documents of Budget 2020-21, the volume of the development budgets for the Higher Education Commission has been proposed to be Rs.29.47 billion. In the new budgets, it has been proposed to allocate more than Rs.24.5 billion for 94 ongoing projects. 23 new projects worth Rs. 15.8 crore, Pak-UK Knowledge Gateway project, Rs. 46 crore projects for Smart Universities Phase-I, Academic Cooperation Project under the C-Pac Consortium of Universities are proposed to be part of the new budgets. It is proposed to allocate a development fund of Rs. 17 crores for this purpose.
A plan to set up a university in North Waziristan has also been included in the budgets. Funds of Rs. 75 lakhs have been allocated in the budget for the feasibility study of the project. Plans to set up universities in Chitral and Turbat have also been included in the new budget.
