BAKERY BLAST IN LAHORE CLAIMED LIFE
A cylinder exploded at a famous bakery in Ichhra area of Lahore killing a man while wounding 12 others critically on Thursday.
The dying person was identified as Sajid Basheer who used to serve as a security guard at the bakery “Cakes and Bakes” located at near Shershah Colony on Ferozepur Road.
Soon after the incident, a rescue team 1122 had arrived at the spot and shifted the wounded ones to the Services Hospital for medication and quick remedies.
It has been reported that when the explosion took place there were many customers and a number of salesmen existing inside the bakery. The blast happened due to the explosion of a gas cylinder out of the bakery, and it was so powered that broke out a huge fire inside the bakery causing panic in the whole commercial area as the mornings are usually filled with a great crowd.
The firefights put the fire out that had covered the bakery soon after the incident but unfortunately, it became too late to save the lives and especially the goods worth thousands of rupees that were present in the shop were burnt to ashes.
Two of the injured people are said to be in a serious condition and the 12 has been identified as Farzan Ali, Farhan Shakoor, Matloob Rahman, Shafique-ul-Hassan, Shaukat Ali, Usman Nazir, Hamza, Ayyan, Aqib, Ghulam Qadir, Barak, and Babar Tariq. Whereas the body of the deceased one is handed over to his family after the fulfillment of the legal formalities.
According to the initial investigation of the police the explosion took place due to the negligence of the owner of the bakery Malik Riaz-ud-din and the information about the incident was delivered by some of the passersby via phone. However, the exact possibility has not yet been identified whether the blast occurred because of a leakage of gas or cylinder explosion but apparently, it seems to be a gas cylinder blast.
The further investigation is being carried out by the police and a case has been filed against Malik Riaz-ud-din- the owner of the bakery “Cakes and Bakes”.
